Unconventional Practices Serve as Key to
Five-fold Increase in Revenue

(December 19, 2006)…Thomas-Matthew
Associates (TMA), a technical staffing
solutions firm, today announced that it has
been ranked number 18 in the
Philadelphia
Business Journal’s list of top
computer consultants, published November 13.
The annual list ranks the top 25
metro-Philadelphia computer consulting
companies by number of consultants on
assignment.
TMA sales
have increased five-fold since its first-year
earnings of $500,000 in 2005 to $2,500,000
anticipated for 2006. Company president and
founder, Karl Schneider, attributes this
growth to following best-practice principles
such as controlled growth, fiscal
responsibility, and providing consistent,
reliable service. But also by approaching the
typically staid staffing business with an
innovative managerial style and prospecting
philosophy.
“We only hire
senior-level people and empower each employee
with complete decision-making authority. You
have to have to hire the right people to be
able to do this, but we’re patient. We won’t
increase our staff unless I’m absolutely sure
the person will be a good fit,” Schneider
explains. “Our clients like working with
decision-makers and our employees like the
autonomy.”
Another telling
sign of TMA’s innovative approach is the
company’s ability to gain market share in
industries not typically pursued by technical
staffing companies. “We try to leverage the
success we’ve had in our core target markets
[technology and pharmaceutical] to expand into
others,” Schneider explains. “For example,
we’re finding a lot of success with non-profit
organizations.”
Being innovative
is familiar grounds for Schneider, who risked
the security of a steady paycheck for the
uncertainty of business ownership in the hopes
of gaining a better quality of life.
Evidently, Schneider has found a winning
formula. “Really, we just try to keep it
simple,” he adds. “We talk to our clients,
find out what they need, find the best person
for the job, follow-up, and then move on. We
just keep that cycle going and the results
speak for themselves.”
